Our Commitment

Hajde Zemer LLC is committed to digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We apply relevant accessibility standards to provide access to all users.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

hajdezemer.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Technical Accessibility Features

Our website is built on Shopify's Dawn theme, which provides a strong accessibility foundation. We've audited and improved our site beyond Dawn's defaults, including:

Perceivable

  • Text alternatives: All product images include descriptive alt text (WCAG 1.1.1)
  • Color contrast: Text meets contrast ratio requirements of 4.5:1 minimum for body text (WCAG 1.4.3)
  • Text resizing: Content is readable and functional when zoomed up to 200% (WCAG 1.4.4)
  • Reflow: The viewport meta tag allows user scaling (WCAG 1.4.10)
  • Non-text contrast: Interactive UI components and graphical objects meet contrast requirements (WCAG 1.4.11)

Operable

  • Keyboard accessible: Interactive elements are operable via keyboard (WCAG 2.1.1)
  • Skip navigation: A "Skip to content" link allows keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation (WCAG 2.4.1)
  • Focus visible: Focusable elements display a visible focus indicator (WCAG 2.4.7)
  • Page titles: Pages have descriptive titles (WCAG 2.4.2)
  • Link purpose: Links are descriptive and understandable in context (WCAG 2.4.4)
  • Touch targets: Interactive elements are sized for usability (WCAG 2.5.8)

  • Language: The page language is declared in the HTML (WCAG 3.1.1)
  • Language of parts: Albanian-language phrases are marked with proper lang attributes (WCAG 3.1.2)
  • Consistent navigation: Navigation menus appear in the same location across pages (WCAG 3.2.3)
  • Form labels: Form inputs include associated labels (WCAG 3.3.2)
  • Error identification: Form validation errors are identified in text (WCAG 3.3.1)

Robust

  • Valid HTML: Pages use semantic HTML elements with proper heading hierarchy (WCAG 4.1.1)
  • ARIA attributes: Dynamic content uses appropriate ARIA roles, states, and properties (WCAG 4.1.2)
  • Status messages: Updates provide screen-reader-accessible notifications (WCAG 4.1.3)

How We Test

We conduct accessibility testing using a combination of automated tools and manual review:

  • Every deploy: Automated scan using WAVE on changed pages
  • Monthly: Full-site automated audit using axe DevTools and Google Lighthouse
  • Quarterly: Manual keyboard-only navigation test (homepage → collection → product → cart → checkout)
  • Quarterly: Screen reader testing with VoiceOver and NVDA
  • Quarterly: Review of all new product images for alt text
  • After every app install: Keyboard navigation and screen reader test on new third-party widgets
  • After every theme update: Full regression test (automated + keyboard)

These audits are conducted by our internal team using industry-standard tools. We do not use accessibility overlay widgets.

Known Limitations

Some areas of our website may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Third-party content: Some embedded content from third-party services (e.g., payment processors, social media widgets) may not fully meet accessibility standards.
  • Checkout: The checkout process is hosted by Shopify and may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
  • Dawn theme core: Predictive search results contain non-standard ARIA roles in some cases, and some slider pagination elements lack aria-current state. These are low-severity issues monitored for upstream fixes from Shopify.
